    City Retreat Weekend: Authentic Illumination

    Featured September 12, 2025 - September 14, 2025
Maitreya Institute Amsterdam Tilanusstraat 8a, Amsterdam, BH, Netherlands

Authentic Illumination – Mapping our Path to Enlightenment through Guru Yoga and Lam Rim Meditation Our path to enlightenment involves a clear methodical system of stages and practices to help us transform our current state of confusion and suffering to the ultimate goal of complete awakening. The Lam Rim (Stages of the Path) outlines these steps in a uniquely progressive way helping practitioners navigate their spiritual journey with clarity and purpose. However, most students are not clear on how to approach Lam Rim meditation to actualize realizations. Isn’t it time to get started and understand how to do it most effectively? See more details on the center’s website. Some background in Buddhism helpful. Online and in-person.

Preparing for Death with Confidence and Compassion
    Online Only

    Featured October 20, 2025 @ 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm EDT

Our Mettaverse (online only) October 20, 6 - 7:30pm (Pacific time), 9 – 10:30pm (Eastern time) While we generally think of death as an anxiety-producing experience of loss, it can also be a time of great opportunity if we have trained our minds. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has commented that it is possible to die with joy, without fear, and regret. In this series, Venerable Amy will help us prepare for this important time of transition and teach us how we can train our minds for a more peaceful and happy death. She will also help us understand what happens at the time of death, how we can utilize thought transformation (lojong) and other techniques, how mantras and prayers can be helpful, and how to help others who are passing away. Helpful to have some background in Buddhism.

On this sacred day, we commemorate the Buddha’s descent from the heavenly realms to continue guiding beings toward awakening. It is said that the effects of our positive and negative actions are multiplied many times over today. Observing the Buddhist precepts—even for a single day—becomes a powerful way to honor the Buddha’s great compassion, while planting seeds of wisdom and kindness in our own lives. Join us in taking precepts this morning as a heartfelt offering of virtue, deepening our connection to the Dharma, and dedicating merit for the well-being of all beings. Online Only
